I am currently working on paintings, including my Diabolical Poison Series.   I have a new ACEO section in my 1000 Markets shop. Check it out!

Apparently I keep forgetting to submit photo captions to Antiques Roadshow Insider Magazine.  Too bad;  I had a couple of really funny ones!

Hellooooo, where have I been?  Apparently not on this page!

ETSY SHOP...ETSY SHOP...ETSY SHOP - See my etsy shop at :
www.ElisaAlvarado.etsy.com  or click on the etsy mini on my links page.

If you visit my etsy shop, please heart me.  It's good for my ego.

LOTS of Alphabet Blocks in the works!  See them at my etsy shop.  They sell pretty fast and often don't make it to my portfolio website.

See my caption in the Antiques Roadshow Insider (Nov.  2008 issue) "The Last Word" Just For Fun section with the J. Michael Flanigan, Rafael Eledge and Christopher Mitchell photo.

For Roadshow fans:  I found some videos of the Keno twins on MSN.com in a series called Collect This!  I have to say VERY cheesy.

http://tech.msn.com/guides/collectthis_videogames.aspx
(Please type or cut and paste into your browser.)

The video game segment is like YouTube for the senior set (And yes, I'm being nice and PC).  The Kenos are at their best when they revert back to their "appraiser personas".  Oh no,  I've become one of those annoying people who uses quotes for emphasis!

SEPTEMBER 15, 2008
All of my family survived the storm.  They have roof and tree damage at their homes.  My sister actually got her power on yesterday!  My husband's family business had an air conditioner fall through the roof.  But, no injuries and everyone is safe.

SEPTEMPER 12, 2008
God bless Houston and Galveston.  Please keep my sister, family and friends safe from the storm.

SEPTEMBER 7,2008
I will have 3 framed linoleum block prints for sale at the Political Action Art Auction:  Sat. Sept. 20, 2008:  5-9pm: At the Austin Art Garage, 2200 S. Lamar Blvd., Suite J (behind Strut) Austin, TX 78704

JULY 21, 2008
See my NEW caption in the Antiques Roadshow Insider (August 2008 issue) "The Last Word" Just For Fun section with the Leigh Keno photo.  The Kenos are my favorite appraisers and this is a particularly funny photo.  I always look for furniture so that one day I can go to the Roadshow and be in the Kenos' line.  (Plus it beats the particleboard and made in China furniture that I have.)  I've decided that I'm furniture impaired.  I look at "antiques" and I think "I don't know". So, I don't buy it.  I've been to two Antiques Roadshow tapings and so far no furniture and no Kenos.  Oh well.

I have been working on a ton of Alphabet Blocks.  (They're cathartic.)  I am also working on several ideas for the Diabolical Poison Series.

JUNE 10, 2008
See my NEW caption in the Antiques Roadshow Insider (June 2008 issue) "The Last Word" Just For Fun section with the Mark Walberg 1969 Subaru 360 Deluxe photo.

I closed the eBay store until the fall.  I have to dedicate time to my daughter and her OT therapy.  I will be listing a few things on eBay here and there.  I will be looking for galleries and making art when I can.  I will be concentrating on the "Diabolical Poison" Series.

APRIL 16, 2008
Check out my new eBay store with excruciatingly reasonable prices on small new art as well as art that I am clearing out of my personal collection.  (Hey, a girl has to buy gasoline!)  Find the link on this website under links or search E Alvarado on eBay to hit my auctions and store.

APRIL 5, 2008
I have started a new series of paintings based on my family's experience with the carbon monoxide poisoning. (See HOUSE WARNING link.)  They are diabolical in nature and will combine elements of the Figurative Juxtaposition Series with human figures and architecture.  I anticipate it will take at least 2 years to complete the 13 painting series since I am also working on other art on the side as well as doing my regular family, Mommy, Wife stuff. I will post the images as they become available!

I did not make it into the Roadshow insider for April.  Apparently I am not that funny when I have the flu.  I totally forgot to submit for May so it's probably too late now.

My husband and I were in the background for about 10 seconds during the first hour of Antiques Roadshow San Antonio. My sister was the "star" as she was on for about 20 seconds when she walked across in the background. If one has 15 minutes of fame:  I'm due at least 14 minutes 50 seconds!

MARCH 5, 2008
I have a new weather series emerging in the painting-in-a-day series. Hmm, interesting.  Who would have thought that would happen.

See my NEW caption in the Antiques Roadshow Insider (March 2008 issue) "The Last Word" Just For Fun section with the Marshall  Martin photo.

JANUARY 31, 2008
On a fun note see my two NEW captions On a fun note see my NEW caption in the Antiques Roadshow Insider (Feb. 2008 issue) "The Last Word" Just For Fun section with the Barry Weber photo. Hmm, I'm seeing a trend here.  Perhaps I need a paying gig.  Or, perhaps I moved to the 13th safest city in America AND I have two small children AND I need to amuse myself by writing funny Roadshow photo captions.  Yeah, I think it's the last one.  Although, a paying gig would at least help with the baby's diapers.

JANUARY 9, 2008
I have added the "House Warning" page back into my website to tell how my family was poisoned with cabon monoxide by our Plantation Home.  I originally took it off because I feared that some crazy people might think that we had gotten money from the builder and that might make us a target for a lawsuit.  Well, we have not gotten money or even a "We're sorry that we poisoned your family and killed your pet".  If I was rich would I be selling off all my personal art collection for pennies on eBay.  Hmmm, I think NOT.

I'm also finding out that the carbon monoxide poisoning had a big impact on my art.  I am finding it VERY difficult to go back to the tranquility of the Figurative Juxtaposition Series.  So, I have returned to the Figurative Expressionism Series and the mixed media sculpture.  I have to create what is in my soul, and currently there is no tranquility there.  I am finding some humor coming out in the mixed media sculpture.  So that's good!

I'm thinking of doing a YouTube video about our experiences with the carbon monoxide poisoning.  Stay tuned for updates.

JANUARY 2, 2008
For the new year, I am working in on new paintings for my Figurative Expressionism Series.  I am expanding the Alphabet Block Series.  I am also working on new mixed media sculptures and new work for the Figurative Juxtaposition Series.

So, you guessed it!  I'm working on my own art from my own vision of the world and life.  I'm creating it, throwing it against the wall, and seeing what sticks. Much to my surprise themes and techniques keep coming back for more.

Look for more eBay auctions ( key word E Alvarado) with an eBay Store in the future.  Also, I will be adding e-commerce to this site soon.

On a fun note see my NEW caption in the Antiques Roadshow Insider (Jan. 2008 issue) "The Last Word" Just For Fun section with the Bruce Shackelford / John Buxton photo.

DECEMBER 4, 2007
Goodbye to my kind gentle friend Suzie. You will be missed.

NOVEMBER 29,2007
I am currently working on the small painting-in-a-day pieces as well as small block sculptures. I am listing these on eBay as well as some other pieces. I hope to clear out enough art to focus on some larger pieces in the future. I find these small  pieces a great way to get the creativity flowing.

On a fun note see my caption in the Antiques Roadshow Insider (Dec. 2007 issue) "The Last Word" Just For Fun section with the Leigh Keno photo.

SEPTEMBER 22, 2007
Hi!  Please see my new category of "Drawings" under my portfolio section of the website.  The drawings are loose sketches on recycled paper.

SEPTEMBER 19, 2007
I am currently working on new paintings as well as some small drawings and sculptures.  Since I moved from Houston to Round Rock, I have much less storage.  To clear out some of my work, I have begun listing it on eBay.  If you type
E Alvarado       into the eBay search box my listings will come up. Or, you can use the link from this site under the "Links" section to reach my listings.

JULY 26, 2007
I am currently working on several paintings in the Figurative Juxtaposition Series as well as continuing on with the Painting-a-Day Series.  However at this point with school still out for the summer, I have to admit that it's not quite a painting a day.  The paintings in that series will be small and completed within a day.  (Hmm, maye it should be called the Painting-in-a-Day Series.)  I am gearing up and excited about the prospect of  getting lots of new work done once school starts and I have more kid-free time!

THANK YOU to the nice lady who let me photograph her wonderful Steiff camel at Antiques Roadshow in San Antonio, TX on July 14.  A small painting of him is complete and should be on the website soon.  Look for him in the future in a larger painting on canvas.

THANK YOU to the other nice lady who let me photograph her great wooden horse at Antiques Roadshow.  Look for him in future paintings.  I have several ideas for him.
PS:  If you read this please drop me a line via my contact page.  I would love to know what his appraisal was.  Was he ever used as a carousel horse?  Also, was he ever painted?
