     I was born in
San Antonio, Texas.  I began life with a passion for art that has continued throughout my life.  I have always loved the creation of art:  the getting your hands in part, the touch, the color, even the smell of the wood, clay or canvas.  As a kid, I dove into any medium placed in front of me.  Even now, I’d say that there are few art disciplines that I haven’t tried.   I’m sure that everyone has a favorite artist or medium that they particularly favor, but I have always had admiration for many artists in many disciplines and time periods.  Those artists influence my work as well as people, places, emotions, objects, symbols, colors and even the artistic medium itself.

I moved to Houston, Texas three days before hurricane Alicia.  A week later when the power and water came back on, the boxes had been unpacked and I began creating art again and never stopped.  I have taken numerous art classes throughout my life but I graduated from UH, Clear Lake with both a B.A. and an M.A. in art.  I am currently living and creating art in the Austin, Texas area.

My paintings and sculptures are story snap shots depicting expressions of the human psyche and experience.  All of my work has a distinct narrative quality.  The people and animals within the pieces are like characters in a play drawn from a stream of consciousness.  I never begin a piece with a preconceived notion of how it will turn out; instead, I let each piece evolve into its own expression.  I want the viewer to become a part of the narrative as they bring their own life experiences into the interpretation of the piece.
